College of Sciences Overview

UNLV College of Sciences is a community of academic excellence comprised of 2,500 students and 135 full-time faculty who address fundamental questions related to earth sciences, biological systems, physical and chemical systmes, mathematics, and universe.

UNLV's Carnegie R1 status designating the University as a top tier institution for research is largely driven by the groundbreaking work taking place in the College of Sciences. Unique opportunities to participate in laboratory research as an undergraduate are a point of pride at UNLV, including recognized programs designed to provide paid research experience for undergraduates and minority students.

Sciences Excellence & Opportunity Fund
The College of Sciences endeavors to develop and nurture a community of scientists and scholars who are leaders in their disciplinary areas and generate knowledge at the forefront of science. The Sciences Excellence & Opportunity Fund is a discretionary research fund that allows the College to support immediate priorities to further this work. These may include student research awards, support for conference participation, laboratory equipment and supplies, coordination of conferences or symposia, etc.

A scholarship gift to the UNLV College of Sciences can reward academic achievement, enhance access to opportunity, improve economic outcomes, and increase the diversity of our student-body. Scholarship support is especially critical on our campus of students from diverse backgrounds where approximately 50% of students rely on financial support to pursue their education.
