The College of Sciences is a vital part of the mission of UNLV. We educate approximately 3,000 students in the areas of physics, astronomy, geoscience, mathematics, life sciences, and chemistry.
The college provides a well-rounded experience that combines practical and empirical knowledge with scientific fundamentals and principles, which provides a solid foundation for a successful career in the sciences and other professional programs.
The College of Sciences has top-notch researchers involved in cutting-edge research. This allows for experiences found at few other institutions. The research opportunities available to students will enable them to make inquiries and observations necessary for scientific discoveries. These discoveries are helping to protect and preserve Nevada and its citizens. Students also have the opportunity to cultivate their finding, write journal articles, and to present their research at conferences. Through research, students are provided with the resources needed to obtain an education in a friendly and interdisciplinary environment, which prepares them for a professional and productive life.
Our goal is to ensure that every science student has the chance to pursue a research experience while at UNLV. You can help us achieve that goal by supporting the Research Excellence Fund in the College of Sciences. The Research Excellence Fund supports innovative research that impacts our community and beyond, and makes it possible to place undergraduate and graduate students at the forefront of scientific discovery.
