Powwow for the Planet
In addition to hosting a variety of events throughout the year, the Native American Alumni Club has led the creation of UNLV's Powwow for the Planet entering its fifth year. This signature event aims to champion cultural preservation and leadership development amongst Native youth, advocacy for environmental justice and the protection of Indigenous sacred places in Nevada.
This year the Powwow will be on Saturday, April 12 (12 p.m.-10 p.m.), and Sunday, April 13 (12 p.m..-6 p.m.), at the Thomas and Mack on UNLV's campus. It will showcase traditional powwow dancing, drumming, authentic Native arts and craft vendors and food vendors.
